This diagram shows a comparison between a generic traditional software industry construction method and the method described in VCSY's patent 6826744. cc In a traditional world, the content and format are handled by designers whose work is then passed on to a programmer who develops the functionality to package the content, format into an application. These workers have the skills necessary to address parameter/sequence dependencies in these components. Any change required in any of the content, format and/or function must be reworked by the designer and developer to target a different applications space (virtual or metal).
In a VCSY world, content, format and function are stored as objects which may be used in an arbitrary fashion, meaning any object may be used with any other object. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) performs the design and develop tasks without having to learn the implementation requirements necessary in the traditional paradigm. Thus the application built by the SME is an arbitrary construct that may be specified/contracted to provision a target platform with a targeted application. Any change required in any of the content, format and/or function is available as a result of the specify/contract task already done and is provisioned with the required implementation managed by the framework.
Work and Rework in the traditional paradigm is expensive, requiring SME's to guide the designer and developer and requiring manual handling which is expensive, error-prone and redundant.
